At BARON Atelier, we use artisanal techniques and natural finishes that make every piece truly unique. For this reason, slight variations in tone, texture or grain definition are inherent to the processes we employ.

Differences in the grain, subtle marks, or the way the colour evolves over time are natural expressions of vegetable-tanned leather and should not be regarded as imperfections, but as signs of authenticity and character.

Vegetable-tanned leather is a noble, living material in constant evolution. Its beauty lies not only in how it looks, but in how it ages, acquiring character over time. To preserve its authenticity and extend its lifespan, we recommend the following essential care:

Protect from stains and scuffs

Your piece will retain its qualities if you store it in its cotton pouch and avoid overloading it, allowing it to keep its original shape. If it comes into contact with water, remove any excess moisture without rubbing using a soft cloth, and allow it to dry at room temperature, away from heat sources. Avoid contact with oils, perfumes, inks or other substances that may leave permanent marks.

Condition sparingly

Like our own skin, leather needs nourishment. Once or twice a year, apply a specialist leather cream with a clean cloth, working in gentle circular motions. This helps maintain suppleness and the leather’s original appearance.

Allow it to breathe

Do not store leather pieces in plastic bags or airtight spaces. Leather needs air to remain in good condition. We recommend keeping it in dry, well-ventilated places.

Embrace its transformation

Time will leave its mark on your piece, revealing a unique patina that reflects its story and the way it has been used. These are not imperfections, but testimony to authenticity and natural beauty.

Due to the nature of vegetable-tanned leather, slight colour transfer may occur through friction with other surfaces, particularly in humid environments. Please bear this in mind when wearing light-coloured garments, especially in contact with suede or similar finishes.

At BARON Atelier, we offer a cleaning and care service for all our items. We will also be delighted to answer any questions you may have about our pieces or their care.
